We are well underway in the planning of an exciting U.S. Defense STEM trailer day at Metro Beach in Macomb County where each branch of the military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard) will bring their STEAM or education trailer. It is certain to be a memorable and engaging day for all students that attend as they will have a chance to interact with each branch of the Dept of Defense in this manner.
The idea is to expose our youth to all the exciting and innovative STEM-related career opportunities within the DoD. Most high school, college, and university students admit that they don't know what they want to do or how to pursue their career path. For this reason, WID-Mi and NDIA-MI would like to help change this by offering the full life cycle of career education by presenting ideas to these students, demonstrating skills needed for jobs, and offering the opportunity to talk to schools which offer curriculums needed for their career - all in the hopes of inspiring them! During this groundbreaking STEM event, students will have the opportunity to speak to inspiring men and women with careers in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and National Guard.
Students will also have the chance to meet with industry partners who design, engineer, and manufacture the materials that keep our soldiers safe and provide equipment needed for routine tasks.
Through your participation, we would like to encourage high-school students to think outside of strictly civilian career paths and tangibly grasp what the US Defense industry has to offer in terms of service, leadership, and adventures that they never dreamed of.
