Colleagues,
As this challenging calendar year draws to a close, The Michigan Defense Center would like to thank our partners around the state for engaging in our meetings, collaborating on missions and promoting defense as an important sector of the state’s economy.
We’d like to give a special shout-out to our partners at the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, a state cabinet level organization that encompasses Michigan Veteran Affairs, The VA hospitals and nursing facilities and the Michigan National Guard. Throughout this year they have responded to Michigander’s needs tending to veterans’ medical challenges exacerbated by COVID-19 and have helped distribute food to the needy. They have been called on to work with state healthcare authorities and the DoD on plans to distribute vaccines all the while creating opportunities for innovation and growth under the Michigan National Guard. The Michigan Defense Center honors the service of our hometown heroes.
To say that the collaboration between The Michigan Defense Center and the Michigan National Guard is critical to Michigan’s Unity of Effort is an understatement. Because the state has not designated this partnership by statute, it was imperative that the MDC and the DMVA incorporate each other into our strategic plans when forming our mission objectives. This partnership will continue to strengthen to provide success in the coming years.
This understanding lays the groundwork for mutual support when submitting proposals for new missions, developing joint projects and sharing resources and intel which has resulted in exciting new opportunities for the state! Today’s highlight article shares some of the many ways we are working together.
As always, let us know how we can assist you. Email us at info@MichiganDefenseCenter.org.
Sincerely,
Vicki Selva
Executive Director
