A bipartisan group of Michigan legislators is getting behind the idea of the military’s newest plane taking off and landing in Macomb County. The federal leaders, including Macomb County House of Representative members Paul Mitchell (R-Dryden), whose district stretches from northern Macomb into the Thumb, and Sander Levin (D-Royal Oak), who takes in much of Macomb County’s south end, recently sent a letter to the secretary of the U.S. Air Force in support of Selfridge Air National Guard Base’s campaign to host the F-35 Lighting II.
