We are well underway in the planning of an exciting U.S. Defense STEM trailer day at Metro Beach in Macomb County where each branch of the military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard) will bring their STEAM or education trailer. It is certain to be a memorable and engaging day for all students that attend as they will have a chance to interact with each branch of the Dept of Defense in this manner.
The idea is to expose our youth to all the exciting and innovative STEM-related career opportunities within the DoD. Most high school, college, and university students admit that they don’t know what they want to do or how to pursue their career path. For this reason, WID-Mi and NDIA-MI would like to help change this by offering the full life cycle of career education by presenting ideas to these students, demonstrating skills needed for jobs, and offering the opportunity to talk to schools which offer curriculums needed for their career – all in the hopes of inspiring them! During this groundbreaking STEM event, students will have the opportunity to speak to inspiring men and women with careers in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and National Guard.
Students will also have the chance to meet with industry partners who design, engineer, and manufacture the materials that keep our soldiers safe and provide equipment needed for routine tasks.
Through your participation, we would like to encourage high-school students to think outside of strictly civilian career paths and tangibly grasp what the US Defense industry has to offer in terms of service, leadership, and adventures that they never dreamed of.

44575 Garfield Rd, Clinton Twp, MI 48038, USA

Join Macomb County Regional PTAC and the University of Michigan Economic Growth Institute Defense Cybersecurity Assurance Program for a seminar to learn about the newly developed Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).  The CMMC will require 100% of all DoD contractors/suppliers to achieve some level of 3rd party certification related to what is specified in their contracts. Agenda Highlights:
    1. What is changing with the DoD’s cybersecurity requirements?
    a. Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC)
    i. What are the requirements?
ii. What does that mean for my company?
iii. How do I get certified?

Training session focused on small and mid-size companies looking to bid on government contracts
The Michigan Defense Center recently launched the Bid Targeting System (BTS), a web-based tool application designed by a former Department of Defense contracting officer that supports companies with government contracting experience and companies which have not done business with the government in the past. Through business intelligence and predictive analytics, the BTS helps organizations quickly identify and prioritize federal contract opportunities and save time and money in the pursuit of that work. The resource also scores companies the way a federal contracting officer would, giving small and medium-sized contractors the same advantages that large primes derive from their in-house experts.
Companies interested in learning how to use the BTS can attend a free webinar offered by Veteran Business Outreach Center.
