Several months ago, Michigan’s Macomb County gained another major asset. Wyle – a privately owned, engineering services company – opened its first Michigan office in the Detroit suburb of Sterling Heights.
Founded in 1949, Wyle is a leading provider of specialized engineering, scientific and technical services to the Department of Defense, NASA, the nation’s leading aerospace contractors and a variety of commercial customers. It is a $1.1 billion company with 4800 employees, most of them being scientists, technicians and highly experienced, technical personnel.
Although it is headquartered in Segundo, CA, and has more than 50 locations around the country, Wyle felt it was important to have a strong presence in Michigan. Heading the company’s new effort is former Michigan State Senator and Veteran, Valde Garcia.
“Wyle has been working with the Joint Program Office for MRAP in TACOM since 2008, so it makes great sense to be co-located in the Defense Corridor with the Detroit Arsenal and the other major DOD Prime contractors,” said Mr. Garcia. “We are very pleased to become part of the Michigan Defense Industry because we believe there are a lot of opportunities here.”
In addition to the synergies in this region, high-tech companies capitalize on Michigan’s talent pool of experienced, quality engineers and skilled trade’s professionals–a great asset in the science and technology services sector where Wyle is a recognized leader. Wyle provides a full spectrum of engineering capabilities, including program management; systems engineering, technical analysis, and integration; modeling and simulation; sustainment engineering; and qualification, certification, and DoD5000.2 test and evaluation.
